Stereotyping, Prejudice and Interculturality

The Research Group continued its work in 2008 by organizing a conference at York on the topic of “Difficult History, Diverse Audiences: The Holocaust and Antisemitism in Contemporary Perspective.” The keynote speaker was Professor David Cesarani, OBE, Research Professor in History at Royal Holloway, University of London. A follow-up conference on “Shoah: Educational Challenges and Solutions,” organized by Research Group members at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, Poland, is scheduled for May 2009. In addition to these conferences, the Research Group is centrally involved in planning and carrying out a 26-day field study program for students and colleagues from Canada, Germany, and Poland in the framework of the Mark and Gail Appel Program in Holocaust and Antiracism Education. The fifth round of this project will take place in Europe in the summer of 2009 and Toronto in February 2010.
