Thanks to the generosity of our donors, The Canadian Centre for German and European Studies (CCGES) is able to run a full program of events and offer students enrolled in our Graduate Diploma Program important financial assistance.

The following awards, scholarships and bursaries are available to CCGES students through the generosity of the following donors.

BMW Group Canada – Established the BMW Canada Award for Excellence. The prestigious award recognizes a graduate student for outstanding achievement in German and European Studies. The 2008 recipient was Lee Kuhnle (PhD, Social and Political Thought).

Siemens Canada – The Hazel McCallion Scholarship Fund. Established in honour of Her Worship Mayor Hazel McCallion, C.M., City of Mississauga. Mayor McCallion is a recipient of the Cross of the Order of Merit from the Federal Republic of Germany.

The Estate of the late Vernon Oliver Stong – Established the Vernon Oliver Stong Graduate Scholarships in German and European Studies.

Dale & Lessmann LLP – The Dale & Lessmann LLP Summer Internship Program. Awarded to an exceptional student at York’s Osgoode Hall Law School who has an interest in German and European Studies and is involved in such Osgoode Hall Law School projects as the German Law Journal.

Gerling-GCAN Insurance Company Award – Provides an annual graduate student award.

The Greater Toronto Airports Authority Bursary – Provides support for a graduate student in an area relevant to urban development and planning, fine arts or environmental studies.

Bombardier Inc. – In the fall of 2008, Bombardier Inc. provided generous support of the Centre’s successful Study Tour of the former-East Germany.

In addition to these gifts, CCGES has recently received additional support towards its activities from Mr.Harry Rosen, BMW Group Canada, and Zwilling J.A.Henckels Canada Ltd..
