Since German unification in 1990, regional development in what was the former-East Germany has taken place in a disparate and fragmented way. An expert in regional economics and urban planning, Prof. Krätke will use his talk to examine these developments with particular attention to the situation in German-Polish border regions.
Stefan Krätke is the Chair of Economic and Social Geography at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt/Oder, Germany. His most recent book publications are Europe’s Cities: Between Metropolization and Globalization (2007) and The Opportunities of EU Eastern Enlargement (2004, together with Renate Borst).
